As the Labour Party funding scandal continues to engulf Westminster, you'd have thought that now was the time for ultra-transparency.

With that in mind, businesswoman Tamara Gillan, of the marketing company spf15, decided to go about establishing a National Tell the Truth Day for Jan 3 and wrote to all 646 MPs asking for support.
Unsurprisingly, our politicians seem reticent about backing the idea: of those who have deigned to reply, 24 have refused whilst only nine have pledged support.

Leading the backers is Maidstone MP and all-round national treasure, Ann Widdecombe, whose support carries one concern. "I can imagine some very awkward questions being posed that day, such as 'Did you like the dress I was wearing?' or 'Don't you think my cat is beautiful?'," she says. "However, I am pleased to enter into the spirit of the campaign."
