Kate Hoey, MP for Vauxhall, is supporting the campaign to establish a National Tell The Truth Day, thought up by marketing agency spf15's managing director Tamara Gillan.
“We should thank Tamara Gillan for this campaign," said Hoey. "Telling the truth is not always popular, so anything encouraging greater public honesty has to be worthwhile. I am not completely convinced about the value of ‘Days’ generally, but campaigning for a National Tell The Truth Day brings an important issue into greater public prominence and I am happy to support the campaign.”
Hoey’s public backing for National Tell The Truth Day was welcomed by Gillan. “Few MPs have a stronger reputation for speaking the truth as they see it, regardless of the personal consequences, so I am thrilled that Kate Hoey is lending her support to the campaign,” she said.
Other MPs giving their support to the campaign include Ann Widdecombe, Ian Cawsey and Laura Moffatt. While Oliver Letwin felt it was not a good idea to have a single day on which people tell the truth "because every day should be such a day".
